According to a recent report by the National Association of Realtors (NAR), home sales in May 2015 peaked at their highest level since May 2009! First-time homebuyers are credited with much of the home sales success, representing 32% of all sales in May. NAR chief economist Lawrence Yun theorizes that the surge in first-time home sales may be due to more affordable mortgage insurance, low down payment programs by lenders, and increasing employment opportunities for young adults.
