Labor Day Fun in Georgia

Labor Day is almost here! Tropical Storm Harvey and disturbances in the Atlantic will make for a soggy long weekend at the coast. This year, skip the beach and check out these fun, family-friendly events happening close to home in Georgia!

Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival at Callaway Gardens

Bring the family to one of middle Georgia’s most anticipated events of the year – the Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival! Numerous majestic balloons will grace the open meadows of Callaway Gardens. The event kicks off on Friday evening with an awe-inspiring Balloon Glow. On Saturday, families can enjoy tons of activities, such as live music, a kids play area, a birds of prey show, balloon and caricature artists, a classic car show, disc dog demonstrators, and plenty of fun on the lakeside beach! Weather permitting, families can experience the thrill of a ride in the sky with a tethered balloon ride! Other amenities at the gardens, such as the trails and butterfly center, are included in the admission cost. For more information, including information on accommodations for the weekend, visit the event website.

Stone Mountain Park

Stone Mountain Park is celebrating the Labor Day holiday with special activities this weekend! On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday evenings, Lasershow 2.0 will be followed by an extended display of fireworks celebrating our everyday heroes. Come early to enjoy all the activities Stone Mountain Park has to offer. Nature lovers can hike the miles of trails, have a picnic, and take a relaxing ride on the paddle boats. Adventure seekers will love the SkyHike adventure course, Geyser Towers water play area, Summit Skyride to the top of the mountain, and the new Dinosaur Explore with realistic prehistoric creatures that actually roar! Dragon Con

You won’t want to miss Dragon Con, the nation’s most popular pop culture convention! Explore a variety of exhibitions and workshops on all things related to science fiction, fantasy, arts, and music in the heart of Atlanta. The annual parade, beginning Saturday at 10 am, is truly a sight to behold as the world’s wackiest characters and creatures converge upon the streets of Downtown Atlanta!
