If you have the winter blahs, add a little perk to your weekend by heading to one of these fantastic destinations just a short drive from Atlanta!

Asheville, North Carolina is just a three-hour drive from metro Atlanta. The downtown area is bustling year-round with arts festivals, craft fairs, and live performances, featuring the best of the eclectic South. Today is the start of the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival, a four-day event that includes innovative performances across multiple venues in the city. There are over 250 independent restaurants in Asheville offering a variety of cuisines, including farm-to-table dining, craft breweries and fine wines, and locally sourced ingredients. Asheville is also home to the incredible Biltmore Estate, where you can explore the 250-room chateau and the 8,000-acre grounds with impressive gardens and an historic winery.

Visit Charleston, South Carolina, located just a few hours from metro Atlanta. Charleston is known for its rich history and beautiful architecture, and is home to some of the finest dining and shopping in the Southeast. Stay downtown for the most authentic experience, and take a horse-drawn carriage to explore the beautiful streets filled with gracious homes and gardens and historic churches. Visit historic sites such as Ft. Sumter, the Citadel, Middleton Place, Old Exchange, and Charleston City Market. Located on the waterfront, Charleston also offers several boat tours and is in close proximity to the some of the best beaches in the Southeast.

Columbus, Georgia, located on the Chattahoochee River at the Alabama state line, offers a variety of activities for the whole family. Explore the Chattahoochee Riverwalk, a linear park that stretches for 15 miles in the heart of the city. Kids will love the Coca-Cola Space Science Center, which features a variety of interactive exhibits, the Challenger Learning Center, and an observatory to view the night sky. Columbus is also home to the acclaimed National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus and National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center, which allows visitors to explore America’s military history dating back to the Revolutionary War.
