One of the best ways to kick off the holidays is with the lighting of the Christmas tree. Here are some fun events that will add magic to your holiday season!
Gwinnett County
The Buford Community Center will light its tree on Saturday, November 28th at 6 pm. Stick around after the lighting to roast marshmallows around the fire pit and catch an outdoor screening of The Polar Express.
On Saturday, December 5th, bring your family to Historic Downtown Duluth for the lighting of its Christmas tree. Local schools will perform holiday tunes and sacred songs as the 20-foot tree is illuminated at 6:30 pm. Santa will arrive soon after to visit with the children – be sure to bring your cameras!
Downtown Flowery Branch will light its Christmas tree on Saturday, December 5th. The fun starts at 9 am with the Jingle Run, and at the festivities begin at noon. Your family will enjoy an afternoon with of live entertainment, hay rides, and a parade at 3 pm! The tree will be lit at 6 pm.
Visit Main Street in Lilburn for the annual lighting of the Christmas tree. Lilburn Middle School Chorus will sing carols, and children can take a photo in front of the tree with Mrs. Claus. There will also be Christmas crafts, and hot cocoa to keep you warm!
Don’t miss the 34th Annual Snellville Christmas Tree Lighting at the Towne Green on Saurday, November 28th. This event will take place from 5:30 to 9:30 pm and feature a Christmas parade, visits with Santa, and a canned food drive. The tree will be lit at 7 pm.
Atlanta
An Atlanta holiday tradition for almost 70 years, the Lighting of the Macy’s Great Tree will now be held on Sunday, November 22nd rather than Thanksgiving Day as in years past. Enjoy a concert by American Idol winner Jordin Sparks at 6 pm followed by the lighting at 7 pm. The show will be capped off by a fireworks finale set to holiday music. This is a time-honored celebration you won’t want to miss!
