Monday, May 27th is Memorial Day, a national day of remembrance for the brave men and women of the armed services who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect American freedoms. A three-day weekend, it’s also become the unofficial start of the summer season, marked by barbecues, pool parties, and family gatherings. In the midst of all the fun to be had, it can be difficult to find the time to observe Memorial Day with the respect and honor it deserves.
The simplest way is to participate in the National Moment of Silence, observed at 3 p.m. (local time) on Monday, May 27th. Americans across the globe will stop, quiet themselves for one minute, and remember those soldiers who never returned home. You can also attend a local parade, visit a military cemetery to pay your respects, or donate to a charity that supports military families.
