Richardson Housing Group (RHG Homes) congratulates Gwinnett County’s 2017 STAR students and teachers! This annual achievement from the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce recognizes the county’s most outstanding students and teachers in the annual STAR (Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition) program. The STAR student is a senior in the top 10% of his or her class with the highest SAT score. Each STAR student selects a STAR teacher as one who has had the strongest influence on his or her academic career. Both public and private schools in Gwinnett County, as well as City of Buford Schools, participate in this prestigious program.
In addition to the student-teacher pairs recognized from each school in the county, two STAR students received additional honors for having the highest SAT scores countywide: Sabarish Sainathan, who selected AP Calculus BC Teacher Greg Field (Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology) as STAR teacher; and Eric Yan, who selected AP Physics C: Mechanics teacher Gabriel Pak (Peachtree Ridge High School) as STAR teacher. These pairs will compete for the regional and possibly state-level titles for 2017 STAR Student and Teacher.
The students and teachers were recognized at a special ceremony and luncheon held on February 27 at the Hilton Atlanta in Peachtree Corners. Sponsors of the event included the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – Georgia Campus, Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation, Inc., Georgia Power Company, Gwinnett Technical College, and Peach State Federal Credit Union.
