Happy Veterans Day from RHG Homes

This weekend, invite your friends, family, and neighbors to one of these events in metro Atlanta to celebrate our treasured servicemen and servicewomen.

This morning at 11 am, Gwinnett County will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Fallen Heroes Memorial, located at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. Chairman Charlotte Nash will speak, and the ceremony will include honor guards from county and local police and fire departments.

Also this morning, the Atlanta History Center will host its annual program at the on-site Veterans Park. Joe Galloway, an acclaimed war correspondent and best-selling author, will be the keynote speaker.  Following the ceremony, head inside the museum to learn about the Veterans History Project, which has conducted over 600 interviews with veterans and captured treasured recollections. Admission to today’s program is free, and active and retired veterans and up to five family members will receive free admission to the Atlanta History Center. Click here for more information.

This evening, the City of Snellville will host a special program honoring our veterans. Mayor Tom Witts, an combat veteran from the US Navy, will serve as master of ceremonies and will recite the Gettysburg Address. Additional features will include a 21-gun salute by the Button Gwinnett Militia, live patriotic music, and a candlelight vigil to honor our fallen heroes. Don’t miss the the Georgia Veterans Day Parade tomorrow morning in Downtown Atlanta. This parade is one of the oldest and longest-running Veterans Day celebrations in the state. This fun event will feature General Georgia Casey, US Army (retired) as the grand marshal. For more information and details on the parade route, visit the event website.
