Make it potluck style. Focusing on the main meats and couple of sides will allow you to relax and focus on the rest of your event. Pick a couple of grilled meats and easy sides that you do best and ask your guests to bring a side dish, drinks, or dessert.
Have one or two pitchers of signature beverages to enjoy. Whip up one of these easy summertime cocktails, along with a pitcher of non-alcoholic punch.
Break out the games! Consider corn hole, horse shoes, badminton, or other outdoor games that are easy to set up. Kids will be thrilled, and the adults will feel like kids again!
Set the mood. Brighten up your patio with bold-colored tablecloths and coordinating dishes and utensils. Check out your local dollar store for a great bargain on these items. If your barbecue will last until nightfall, burn pretty citronella candles to add ambient lighting and keep the bugs away.
Do your prep the night before. Marinate meats, prepare side dishes, and set aside your dishes, utensils, and decor. Prepping the evening before will allow you to actually relax and enjoy your event!
