With the New Year Comes New Home Trends!

2015 is upon us, and so are new trends for new homes! A report issued by the National Association of Home Builders indicates that home builders are increasingly building smaller homes, continuing a trend from recent years. In 2007, average home size peaked at 2,521 square feet. That figure has steadily decreased since then, currently averaging 2,400 square feet in size. What’s the reason for this trend? New homebuyers are less interested in formal living rooms and formal dining rooms, opting instead for spacious great rooms and large eat-in kitchens. The modern home buyer is also more concerned about energy efficiency and “green” building practices. Therefore, new homes are more likely to have covered porches, ceiling fans, and other energy-saving features to help cool homes in the warm months.

Richardson Housing Group (RHG) prides itself on designing beautiful new homes that reflect the latest trends in home designs. RHG homes offer expansive great rooms, spacious eat-in kitchens, covered front porches, ceiling fans, and much more.
